The patented IMP, Intelligent Mark Positioning offers a unique laser marking
and engraving process through mark verification and alignment. This
un-parralleled integrated system results in superior marking precision
with "through-the-lens-vision".
When it comes to marking, IMP is capable of handling parts of different colours,
shapes and materials, all in variety of configurations. This flexibility has allowed
IMP to adapt to some of the most complex marking requirements. Below are
some of the configurations supported by IMP.
Same part and one mark content:
IMP is taught to identify the same type of part several times and apply the
same mark content to each part. One Fobagraf (.bia) file is used and, in
some cases, only one vision model is needed. This is the simplest IMP
job configuration.
Same Part but different mark contents:
In the configuration below, IMP uses several .bia files. Depending on the
complexity of the part, one or more vision models may be needed.
Different part shapes and different mark contents:
This configuration reflects a situation where several components assembled
into a bezel are marked with different graphics. Each component of the bezel
has a .bia file and unique vision model. Th achieves faster throughput all
.bia files are marked simultaneously in one job.
Parts of different materials that require different mark contents:
In the application below, the parts have different shapes, different
colours and are made of different materials. For each component, IMP
will use a unique .bia file that will set the marking parameters to
optimum mark quality. Again, all components are first aligned and
then marked in one job to optimize inspection and marking speed.
By adding the IMP to a G-series machine turns tha laser engraving tool
into a powerful optical metrolology device used for mark alignment.
Depending on the lens used, IMP can measure to an accuracy of up to
0.01 mm. The combination of EMC and IMP provides G-Series machine
users with ability to achieve manual or automatic non-contact
measurements. Users can measure features such as mark size, mark
location, position between marks and much more.
