Product Marking, Engraving and Printing at MEDTEC Ireland 2008

As an established supplier of marking equipment to the medical industry Kaye Dee will be promoting a wide range of products on stand 505. These include the Swiss manufactured pad printing equipment by Teca-Print AG and laser marking and engraving systems from FOBA, Germany.

To demonstrate how pad printing can be utilized for the most demanding of medical applications Teca-Print built a system using the TPX301 for printing 7 colours 360 degrees around a medical catheter style component. Machine speeds and pad positions are infinitely adjustable in the X3 machine series and additionally within the same printing cycle it is possible to adjust variable heights for pick-up, delivery and pad cleaning so that products may be printed in different heights and planes. A wide range of machinery is available from open ink well and sealed pot machines to rotary pad printers. The pad printing process can meet technically challenging printing applications and has the flexibility to print single and multi colours on many different shapes, surfaces and materials. Examples of medical devices in pad printing include catheters, syringes, contact lenses and inhaler bodies.

Laser marking is of course another option for the medical industry who continually looks at ways to improve their processes and quality of products and the newly developed Intelligent Mark Positioning (IMP) system from FOBA is the perfect fit. This integrated, through-the-lens vision system where part verification, mark content and laser control are performed under one platform will reduce set-up-time, simplify focusing, eliminate waste parts due to misaligned parts, reduce the price of costly fixturing, offer superior accurate mark placement and reduce operator errors. With the patented IMP we have taken lasers to the next level offering our prospects a tool that meets (or exceeds) their manufacturing requirements. We can offer basic systems for integration into manufacturing lines or customized solutions, marking systems as turn-key laser marking units or manual work stations and engraving machines. Medical devices including implants and medical instruments are typical examples of where laser marking can be used.

We also provide an extensive range of printing accessories and consumables which include Ruco Pad/Screen and UV/Flexo printing inks to suit a wide variety of applications. To further compliment our services we provide in-house colour matching services, graphics for artwork/photopositive reproduction and chemical etching of steel and nylo printing plates.
