Permanent Product Identification Solutions

With the need for marking, coding and traceability solutions becoming of more and more importance in the manufacture and use of medical products, the industry is continuously looking at ways to improve their processes and quality of products. Here at Kaye-Dee we are able to offer a wide range of pad printing and laser marking solutions to provide a permanent means of product identification. Typical examples of where our equipment is used include marking of implants, catheters, syringes, contact lenses and inhaler bodies.

The pad printing process can meet technically challenging printing applications and has the flexibility to print single and multi colours on many different shapes, surfaces and materials. A wide range of machinery is available from open ink well and sealed pot machines to rotary pad printers. Pad printing can be utilized for the most demanding of medical applications and to demonstrate this Teca-Print built a system using the TPX301 pad printing machine for printing 7 colours, 360 degrees around a medical catheter style component.

Laser marking also provides a permanent means of identifying products without the need for using consumables such as inks or chemicals. Implants must be marked in a reliable and equally biocompatible manner and to achieve this, the Mistral Nd:YAG laser manufactured by NWL Laser systems in Germany is the perfect fit. Using the Mistral laser a highly legible and permanent mark can be generated onto materials such as cobalt, stainless, chrome or titanium and since no additives whatsoever are required for laser marking this system is the ideal resource for labeling medical-technical products. With lasers power ranging from 1.5 to 120 watts the Mistral offers outstanding capability and flexibility.
